Fines or debts with the SAT will only make your tax situation worse. Read this post to find out where to check and what to do if you have one.

Tired of wasting time in lines or not being able to pay online because you don’t have a card? In this guide on how to pay with PSE, you’ll discover a practical, fast, and secure solution already used by millions of Colombians.
We’ll show you step by step how to register, make payments, and get the most out of PSE to handle everything from online shopping to official procedures—without the stress.
Before paying with PSE, you must register on this service and link a bank account. Here I’ll show you how to do it without needing to make your first payment.
Go to the PSE registration page and select "Register".
Enter your details: Type of ID, ID number, First and last name, Cell phone number, Email and address. Then click the "Register" button again.
Note: don’t worry if a page pops up saying something like “you can already make your payment on the website,” just wait a few seconds or click accept to see what I show you in the image below.
3. A confirmation code will be sent to your email, which you must enter on the PSE page. And that’s it!
The process to pay with PSE is as easy as clicking a few buttons and entering key data, always being cautious that you’re on a secure website.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to pay with PSE using a bank account linked to Bancolombia, which also works as a guide for any bank you use:
Go to the website of the company where you want to pay or buy something. For example, if you want to pay your car insurance quote.
Choose the product or service you’re going to pay for and select the PSE option. Keep in mind that each page may show this “Pay with PSE” option differently. The important thing is to look for the special icon that identifies this service.
Then click on a section usually called "Bank" and choose the bank you have available to make the payment (e.g., Bancolombia). When you click "Pay," or a similar button, you’ll be redirected to the official PSE site or your bank’s website.
Note: on some sites, you may select your bank directly on the PSE page. So the flow might slightly change, but it’s still very intuitive.
4. If your bank is Bancolombia, you’ll be redirected to a section where you must choose the type of account. From there, it will ask for your main bank password and dynamic code to complete the payment. That easy.
Your PSE user is the email you registered with. If you don’t remember it, you can go to the registration page and click on "Update my registration".
There, you’ll see if it’s the email you used or not. In any case, you can register with a new email to avoid limiting yourself when making bank transfers.
Imagine it's Sunday night and you have to pay your internet bill. The office is closed, you have no cash, and no credit card. At that moment, a digital lifesaver used by millions of Colombians appears: PSE (Secure Online Payments).
PSE is a Colombian system that allows you to pay online directly from your bank account—no cards required. It was developed by ACH Colombia, a company backed by the country’s main banks. This “payment button” has become a key tool for secure, fast, and simple transactions.
In a country rapidly moving toward digitalization, the range of payment options is broader than ever. But how does PSE compare to other options?
Credit or debit cards: Unlike cards, PSE doesn’t imply debt or exposure of sensitive data. With cards you can pay in installments, but with PSE you only spend what you have. That helps avoid impulsive purchases and boosts security.
Traditional bank transfers: Before, transferring money meant leaving the shopping site, entering account numbers, making the payment elsewhere, and sending proof. With PSE, it’s all done in one seamless flow with instant validation.
Cash payments: Although networks like Efecty and Baloto are still around, PSE removes the need to go out, carry cash, or wait in line. It does, however, require a bank account, which excludes a small portion of the unbanked population.
Digital wallets: Apps like Nequi or Daviplata are integrated with PSE. In fact, you can pay using PSE and select your wallet as your bank. Unlike other closed systems (like QR between users of the same app), PSE enables interoperability among multiple banks and services.
In summary, PSE combines the best of multiple worlds: it’s digital, secure, requires no cards, and is connected to most banks and digital wallets in the country.
If you haven’t used it yet, you’re probably closer to doing so than you think. PSE is already present in almost every type of digital payment in Colombia:
1. E-commerce: From giants like Amazon and Mercado Libre, to stores like Éxito and Falabella, everyone offers PSE. It’s one of the most used ways to buy clothes, tech, or food online. In 2024, it already represented over 30% of online purchases in the country.
2. Services and subscriptions: Paying for your cellphone, internet or even Netflix and Spotify is possible with PSE. Telecom companies are some of the biggest users of this platform because of its efficiency and reach.
3. Government procedures: Did you know you can pay your property tax, SOAT, fines, or even your passport with PSE? Thanks to its integration with official platforms, it has made life easier for millions—especially during peak tax seasons.
4. Entrepreneurs and small businesses: From small shops on Instagram to NGOs or stores on Shopify, many use PSE through platforms like Wompi or PayU. This has democratized digital commerce, even for those without robust infrastructure.
5. New solutions like Transfiya: Although PSE was born for business-to-person payments, its technology enabled services like Transfiya, which allows people to send money using only a phone number-showing how PSE's infrastructure is powering a more connected Colombia.
Let’s not forget emerging tools like Bre-B, a new system for payments and transfers aiming to streamline the national economy.
PSE has transformed how Colombians handle digital payments—it's fast, secure, and doesn’t require a credit card. From online shopping to government procedures, it has made paying much simpler and more accessible for millions.
And if you need to send or receive payments from abroad, an excellent alternative is Dolarapp. With this modern app, you can manage your own digital dollars (USDC) or digital euros (EURC) and make international transfers easily and without complications.
